  • LY TRAN, Deakin University - Project Lead

    Ly Tran is a Professor in the School of Education, Deakin University, Australia and an affiliated faculty member of the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan. Her research focuses on international education, international students, the education-migration nexus, international graduate employability and Australian student mobility to the Indo-Pacific. Ly has received a range of fellowships, prizes and awards for her research, including the International Education Association of Australia Award for Excellence in Professional Commentary and Asia Society Australia’s Inaugural Melbourne Asia Game Changer Award.   • JILL BLACKMORE, Deakin University – Project team member

    Jill Blackmore AM PhD is Alfred Deakin Professor in Education, Faculty of Arts and Education, Deakin University, Australia, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences and Vice-President of the Australian Association of University Professors. She researches from a feminist perspective education policy and governance; international and intercultural education; leadership and organisational change; spatial redesign and innovative pedagogies; and teachers' and academics’ work, health and wellbeing. Recent projects are School autonomy reform and International students’ mobility, identity, belonging and connectedness and across all education sectors, the Geopolitics of international education and Good practice in supporting international student engagement. Her latest publication is Disrupting Leadership in the Entrepreneurial University: Disengagement and Diversity (2022, Bloomsbury).

  • DANIELLE HARTRIDGE, Deakin University – Project team member

    Danielle is a leading expert in international education with extensive experience working in the university sector. Danielle’s career spans more than 30 years where she has held senior roles and was ISANA National President from 2010-2013.

    Danielle has a deep understanding of the international education landscape and works closely with international education providers, offering consultation and advice on international education matters related to the international student experience and ESOS compliance. A regular contributor to professional development activities, through the development of online resources and face-to-face workshops.

    Danielle is the recipient of the prestigious IEAA Distinguished Contribution to International Education Award, the Victorian Multicultural Award for Service Delivery to a Multicultural Victoria and is an ISANA Life Member.

  • HELEN FORBES-MEWETT, Monash University – Project team member

    Helen Forbes-Mewett is Associate Professor of Sociology in the School of Social Sciences at Monash University. She is Research Lead of the Monash Migration and Inclusion Centre, Senior Fellow with the International Education Association of Australia, and Editor in Chief of the Journal of Sociology. Her interdisciplinary background encompasses sociology, psychology, and international business with a focus on international students and vulnerable communities.

  • RENATA ALDANA, Australian College of Business Intelligence – Project team member

    Renata Aldana is a Colombian international student at Australian College of Business Intelligence, Australia. She is one of the founding members and a student leader of the Oz International Student Hub (OISH).

  • DIEP NGUYEN, Deakin University – Project Manager

    Diep Nguyen is a project manager for Best Practice International Student Engagement Project. She completed her PhD in international education from School of Education, Deakin University and Master in lifelong learning from Institute of Education, University College London. She has experience in teaching and supporting international students in ELICOS and higher education sector in Australia. Her research focuses on internationalisation of education, academic capacity building in international education, English medium instruction, student mobility, and graduate employability.
